Materials and Equipment Technical Advisory Committee (METAC)
Materials and Equipment Technical Advisory Committee (METAC)
The METAC’s primary focus is materials, equipment, and supporting articles including software/technical data therefore that are used in the development or production of items having a military, space, nuclear, missile, chemical, and/or biological end use.
This Committee advises the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration on Category 0, 1 and 2 that may be of interest from a dual-use perspective as well as the potential impact of dual-use export control requirements on research activities.
The METAC evaluates and comments on data and other information available from the Department, other reliable sources, and members own experiences. The METAC provides advice to the Department with respect to these matters. In this respect, the METAC is forward leaning, focusing on the use of technologies and projecting their likely effects on the future for national security, the U.S. defense industrial base, and the overall health and competitiveness of the U.S. economy. In doing so, the METAC may work with the Emerging Technology Technical Advisory Committee (ETTAC).
