Sensors and Instrumentation Technical Advisory Committee (SITAC)
Sensors and Instrumentation Technical Advisory Committee (SITAC)
The SITAC’s primary focus is to advise the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration on technical matters that affect the level of export control applicable to sensors and instrumentation equipment and technology in CCL Category 6 involving:
- Technical specifications and policy issues relating to those products and systems
- Worldwide availability of products and systems, including quantity and quality of foreign availability thereof, and actual utilization of production technology
- Revisions of the CCL as well as proposed revisions of multilateral controls in which the United States participates
The SITAC evaluates and comments on data and other information available from the Department, other reliable sources, and members own experiences. The SITAC provides advice to the Department with respect to these matters. In this respect, the SITAC is forward leaning, focusing on the use of technologies and projecting their likely effects on the future for national security, the U.S. defense industrial base, and the overall health and competitiveness of the U.S. economy. In doing so, the SITAC may work with the Emerging Technology Technical Advisory Committee (ETTAC).
