Industrial Base Assessments
Industrial Base Assessments
The Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security (SIES), Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Division leverages its unique statutory authorities to conduct surveys and assessments of defense-related technologies and to monitor economic and trade issues critical to the U.S. industrial base, as directed by congressional mandates and executive orders. DIB partners with a broad network of stakeholders, including federal defense and civilian agencies, industry associations, state and local governments, and academic institutions.
DIB conducts primary research and analysis of critical technologies and industrial capabilities across key defense-related sectors. Through industry-specific surveys, the division collects essential data on employment, financial performance, production, research and development, export controls, and other metrics that are unavailable from any other source.
The final reports provide findings and recommendations for government policymakers and industry leaders. The studies are conducted in cooperation with experts from the private sector and other government agencies.
The goal is to enable the private sector and government agencies to monitor trends, benchmark industry performance, and raise awareness of diminishing manufacturing capabilities. Customers for these reports include the Armed Services, Congress, and industry associations.
